Founded in 1999, the United Way Women’s Leadership Council was created to mobilize women to become powerful philanthropists through leadership, fundraising and advocacy. The goals of Women’s Leadership Council are to educate women about philanthropic involvement and leadership, defined in the broadest terms as investing time, talent and treasure in the issues they care most about and to engage women in the work of United Way to transform our community.
Many individuals and families in Gwinnett County lack adequate food, shelter, medical care and emergency assistance. A strong, safe community cares for those in need of life’s basic necessities. The Legacy Awards Fashion Show will honor exemplary women in the community, and the proceeds from the event will help children and families in need.
In looking back, I would like to encourage all women in our community to use the gifts that God gives each of us to give back to the community.
